Huaiyin District is located in the center of the plains of Northern Jiangsu, 62.5 kilometers from north to south and 38.5 kilometers from east to west, covering an area of 1264.10 square kilometers. The land area is 1034.44 square kilometers, accounting for 81.83% of the total area of Huaiyin District and water area is 257.04 square kilometers, accounting for 18.17% of the total area of Huaiyin District. Huaiyin District is abundant in mineral resources. The resources of rock salt and mirabilite reach 27 billion tons and 1.28 billion tons respectively. Besides, there are sodium hydroxide, clay minerals, natural gas, petroleum, boron, iodine and many other resources. Huaiyin District is also a land of fish and rice, with characteristic agriculture of rice, peanut, vegetable, oilseed rape, sweet potato, mulberry, Italian poplar, edible fungus and pasture.
