At the end of 2015, the total population of Huai’an was 5.68 million, an increase of 31,100 over last year, among which, the population of men stood at about 2.91 million, accounting for 51.3% of the total population, with the female population at 2.76 million, accounting for 48.7%. The permanent resident population was 4.89 million, rising 18,000 over last year, among which, the urban population reached 2.92 million, growing 85,300 over last year. The birth rate of permanent residents was 10.93‰, the mortality rate was 7.44‰ and the natural growth rate was 3.49‰.
