The population in Huai’an increased slightly. By the end of 2016, the registered permanent resident population has reached 5.67 million, increasing 31,100 compared to the previous year, in which male population was 2.91 million, accounting for 51.3% and female population was 2.76 million, accounting for 48.7%. The resident population was 4.89 million, increasing 18000 compared to the previous year, in which the population of urban residents was 2.92 million, up 85,300 over the previous year. The urbanization rate of the resident population was 59.7%, rising by 1.5% over the previous year. The birth and death rates of the resident population were 10.93‰ and 7.44‰ respectively. The natural growth rate was 3.49‰.
People’s income grew steadily in Huai’an. The per capita disposable income of the total residents was 22,762 yuan, increasing by 9.2%. The per capita disposable income of urban residents was 30,335 yuan, increased by 7.9%, and the per capita consumption expenditure reached 16,912 yuan, up by 6.6%. The per capita disposable income of rural residents was 14,319 yuan, rising by 9.1%, and the per capita personal consumption expenditure was 9,633 yuan, up by 11.8%. The per capita housing area of urban residents got to 44.2㎡ and that of rural residents reached 51.2㎡.
