On October 18, the Double Ninth Festival, Secretary Gu Kun of the CPC Huai'an Municipal Committee and Acting Mayor Yang Xinzhong led teams to conduct visits and extend greetings, learn about the progress of eldercare services, and extend holiday greetings and best wishes to senior citizens across the city on behalf of the CPC Huai'an Municipal Committee, the Standing Committee of the Huai'an Municipal People's Congress, the Huai'an Municipal People's Government, and the Huai'an Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Gu Kun emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on aging-related work and the spirit of his important speech at the National Health Conference, integrate a positive outlook on aging and the concept of healthy aging into the entire process of economic and social development, deliver dedicated and thoughtful eldercare services, and enable the elderly population to benefit more and better from the fruits of high-quality development.

During the visits and greetings, Gu Kun emphasized that respecting and honoring the elderly is a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation; all localities and departments across the city must firmly establish and practice a correct view of performance evaluation, earnestly implement the national strategy for actively responding to population aging, prioritize the people's concerns as top tasks, coordinate the development of the three major systems of social security, eldercare services, and health support, and continuously promote the high-quality development of undertakings for the aging; efforts must be made to improve service standards, optimize the county-township-village three-tier eldercare service system, and accelerate the development of an eldercare pattern that coordinates home, community, and institutional care while integrating medical treatment and health care, ensuring that seniors have daily care, health management, and reliable support for old age; it is essential to properly implement various policies benefiting the elderly, deliver practical livelihood projects such as age-friendly modifications, senior dining assistance, and safety supervision in a way that truly touches their hearts, foster a strong social atmosphere of filial piety and respect for the elderly, and continuously enhance the sense of fulfillment, happiness, and security among the elderly population.
