From January to July, Huai'an's economic performance remained generally stable, showing steady progress.
Industrial production remained generally stable. From January to July, the added value of industrial enterprises above the designated size across the city grew by 6.5% year-on-year. In terms of key industries, the computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry, the electrical machinery and apparatus manufacturing industry, the liquor, beverage and refined tea manufacturing industry, and the raw chemical material and chemical product manufacturing industry achieved cumulative added value growth of 26.1%, 7.6%, 6.6%, and 6.4%, respectively. Together, they drove the city's industrial added value growth from January to July by 3.8 percentage points.
Growth in industrial investment showed positive momentum. From January to July, fixed asset investment in Huai'an increased by 0.3% year-on-year, with industrial technological transformation investment rising by 17.0% year-on-year and industrial investment rising by 5.2% year-on-year. Notably, investment in computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing, and specialized equipment manufacturing exceeded RMB 5 billion, contributing to the relatively rapid growth in industrial investment.
The consumer market demonstrated enhanced resilience. From January to July, the city's total retail sales of consumer goods reached RMB 122.32 billion, up 4.6% year-on-year. Of this total, retail sales by enterprises above the designated size amounted to RMB 37.52 billion, up 9.1% year-on-year. Among the above-designated-size enterprises, those in the wholesale, retail, accommodation, and catering sectors reported cumulative retail sales growth of 0.2%, 9.7%, 5.0%, and 9.3%, respectively. The retail sales of commodities in major categories—the beverage category, the grain, oil, and food category, and the book, newspaper, and magazine category—increased by 41.5%, 39.6%, and 36.6%, respectively, continuing to maintain a positive recovery trend.
