Recently, the Huai'an Municipal Road Drainage Network Upgrading and Renovation Project—a key livelihood initiative—reached a major milestone. Key sections were completed and opened to traffic one month ahead of schedule, significantly enhancing traffic conditions and drainage capacity on urban trunk roads.

The project covers several core urban trunk roads, with a total drainage network renovation length of approximately 6,000 meters and a total investment of RMB 101.58 million. Managed by Municipal SJID Construction Management Co., Ltd., the project officially commenced in November 2025. Beyond simple pipe replacement, this project includes a comprehensive, systematic upgrade of the road drainage system, directly addressing livelihood issues such as poor drainage and waterlogging in older urban areas during rainy weather.

During construction, the contractor replaced all old, small-diameter drainage pipes with large-diameter ones, built or renovated 13 drainage outlets, and optimized pumping equipment. These measures have significantly boosted drainage efficiency during rainfall and completely resolved road waterlogging and clogging issues. Simultaneously, the project has advanced a comprehensive road quality upgrade: original concrete pavements were resurfaced with asphalt to reduce noise and enhance driving smoothness; high-strength modern guardrails were installed to upgrade safety and aesthetics; anti-settlement, noise-reducing ductile iron manhole covers were replaced in batches to eliminate rattling. With repainted traffic markings and renovated sidewalks, the project has improved both road quality and appearance.

Currently, the initial sections are officially in use, and work on the remaining sections is progressing steadily. The entire project is expected to be completed and delivered by September this year, at which point the infrastructure of the city's main roads will be fully upgraded.
