Huai'an Fully Promotes Wheat Harvesting
time:2026-06-02

Recently, 4.78 million mu (319,000 hectares) of wheat in Huai'an has ripened from south to north and entered the concentrated harvesting period. All localities are seizing the sunny days, optimizing the dispatch of agricultural machinery, refining field services, strictly controlling harvesting losses, and making every effort to promote wheat harvesting operations, ensure that the summer grain harvest is put into storage, and consolidate the foundation for stable production and supply of grain throughout the year.

At the production site of the Sanhe Farm in Jiangsu Province, eight combine harvesters shuttled through 800 mu (53.33 hectares) of wheat fields, completing the four processes of harvesting, threshing, sorting, and in-field straw removal simultaneously, with golden wheat grains smoothly put into storage. This year, the farm promoted high-quality wheat varieties, such as Yangmai 34 and Huamai 8, and achieved good wheat growth, with a yield of 1,100 kg per mu (666.67 square meters).

During the "Summer Harvesting, Planting, and Management" period, agricultural and rural affairs departments across the city deployed in advance and provided overall support. A total of 30,000 sets of farming, harvesting, and grain-drying agricultural machinery and equipment were invested to build an end-to-end mechanized operation system for harvesting, transfer, and drying. At the same time, agricultural experts were organized to provide in-field support and carry out accurate technical guidance for key scenarios such as harvesting after rain, grain drying, and the management and protection of summer seeds, so as to build a solid defense line against grain loss and ensure stable production.

At present, there are 12,000 sets of combine harvesters deployed in the city. The average daily machine-harvesting area is 500,000 mu (333.33 square kilometers) under sunny weather, and the single-day operation capacity exceeds 950,000 mu (633.33 square kilometers) during the peak period of harvesting. The harvest peak is expected to come in mid-June.
