Huai'an will invest RMB 69 million in special funds this year to renovate 12 old urban residential areas across the city. The renovation balances functionality and practicality, with personalized upgrade plans tailored to the specific conditions of each housing estate.
This renovation project covers a wide area, including Qingjiangpu District, Huai'an District, Huaiyin District, and Lianshui County. It encompasses single old dormitory buildings from the 1980s and 1990s, as well as large-scale resettlement and commercial housing complexes built after 2000. The project involves 207 buildings and will benefit 7,244 households, covering a total construction area of over 740,000 square meters.
Adhering to the principle of "prioritizing practicality and meeting residents' needs," the renovation focuses on essential upgrades to address the residents' most pressing concerns. The scope of work includes roof waterproofing, underground pipe network replacement, road paving, landscaping, security and fire-safety facility upgrades, and public-space optimization. These measures aim to address infrastructure deficiencies in old housing estates and eliminate housing safety hazards.
Meanwhile, the renovation plans are tailored to the specific conditions and residents' needs of each neighborhood, following the "one community, one plan" approach. For older dormitory buildings lacking adequate facilities, the focus is on basic upgrades such as fire safety systems, public lighting, and aging-friendly modifications. For large resettlement complexes, the project will optimize parking, improve leisure facilities, and enhance property management services alongside basic renovations, comprehensively improving the livability of the neighborhoods.
