Administrative Divisions and Population
Huai'an covers an area of 10,072 k㎡, of which the city proper covers 3,171 k㎡. The total population by the end of 2013 was 5.4 million, of which 2.8 million were in the city proper. In February 2001, our city changed its name from Huaiyin to Huai'an upon the approval of the State Council. Now Huai'an administers four districts of Qingjiangpu, Hongze, Huaiyin and Huai'an, and three counties of Lianshui, Jinghu and Xuyi.
