Delegation of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Visits Huai'an

The delegation of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, led by Mr. Brandon Liu Tieh-ching, Standing Committee Member of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Managing Director of Feoso Oil Ltd, visited Huai'an on September 5th. The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce is one of the oldest and largest chambers of commerce in Hong Kong.

On the morning of September 4th, Yao Xiaodong, Secretary of Huai’an Municipal Party Committee, welcomed the delegation and told them that Huai'an airport had just been approved to be a First-class Port by the State Council. After introducing the economic and social development of Huai'an, Yao Xiaodong said that Huai'an got great support and help from the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce during its economic and trade exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong. Currently, the number of registered Hong Kong-invested enterprises in Huai'an accounts for almost half of the number of foreign-invested enterprises in Huai'an. Since the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce has a large number of talented people that enterprises need, Yao Xiaodong hoped that it would keep on supporting Huai'an and propose more valuable opinions or suggestions for the development of Huai'an.

In the afternoon, Qu Futian, Mayor of Huai'an, met with the delegation. He said that Huai'an had attached great importance to opening up. Now there are more than 1,000 Taiwan-invested enterprises and 800 Hong Kong-invested enterprises in Huai'an. The future aim is to develop Huai'an into a first-class modern city, with good industrial foundation and supporting industries, comprehensive transportation system and vigorous development of cultural industry, which will provide more opportunities for Hong Kong entrepreneurs to invest in Huai'an. Qu Futian hoped that Hong Kong entrepreneurs could come to Huai'an more often and get a deeper understanding of Huai'an for further exchanges and cooperation, and he said that Huai'an government would also cooperate actively and try to provide the best service for the enterprises.

The two-day visit gave the delegation members a deep and pleasant impression. Mr. Brandon Liu Tieh-ching said that Huai'an has beautiful views and a modern international airport, which is amazing, and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce has more than 6,000 members from various industries and sectors. He will not only bring more Hong Kong entrepreneurs to visit and invest in Huai'an, but also organize groups to Huai'an for travelling.
