Mayor Shi: Good afternoon! Huai’an Lianshui Airport has been put into operation on September 26th. I'm glad to communicate with you on the airport.
Question: What the annual passenger flow of the airport will be?
Mayor Shi: This phase of the airport designs the annual passenger flow to be 600,000 person-times, and freight throughout to be 4,800 tons.
Question: When will flights to Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other big cities be opened? Have them been listed into "the 12th Five-year Plan”?
Mayor Shi: Relative state departments have approved flights to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xi’an and Chongqing, and we're making efforts to open them as soon as possible.
Question: At present, only flights to Beijing and Shanghai use A320 planes, and other flights still use smaller planes, which are not as comfortable and safe as the big ones, can this situation be changed?
Mayor Shi: Huai’an Lianshui Airport is a regional airport in China, so we choose A320 to busy airports and EMB145 for 1-hour or 1.5-hour airlines, the speed and height of EMB145 is the same as B737 and A320, and is suitable for short-distance flights.
Question: When will Huai’an open flights to foreign countries?
Mayor Shi: We are making efforts to open flights to Taipei and Hong Kong, and to foreign countries when conditions are available.

Question: Is there a free bus from the airport to the urban area of Huai’an at night?
Mayor Shi: An express line has been allocated between the airport and Huai’an Coach Station, you can take the bus to the urban area upon arriving the airport, and the ticket price is 15 yuan.
Question: Is there any cooperation between Huai’an government and some airline company?
Mayor Shi: We’ve signed up a long-term cooperative agreement with Oriental Airlines Company, which performs all the flights now.
Question: Is anybody living near the airport? Is there any noise pollution?
Mayor Shi: The airport is built according to state standards, and residents within the influenced scope are all moved, and there are some peasants living outside the scope, and may be influenced by the noise. At present, Lianshui government is relocating the peasants, and residents around the airport will live in the new district.
Question: Huai’an people have been yearning for “Lian-Huai-Yang-Zhen Railway” for years, can it be started construction next year?
Mayor Shi: Construction of the railway should be approved by National Commission of Development and Reform and Ministry of Railway. And Jiangsu Provincial Government and Huai’an Municipal Party Committee and Government have reported and applied for a lot times, it is hopeful that the railway will be started construction in 2011.
Question: Are there any facilities for accommodation and dining near the airport?
Mayor Shi: A three-star level hotel 500 meters away from the airport is under construction, and is expected to open in the 1st half year of 2011.
