Self-service Libraries Appear in Huai'an City

A 24-hour self-service library in Qinghonghuayuan community, Huai’an city, Jiangsu province, though very small - only 20-square-meter, and furnished with simple furniture including a round table, three chairs and five back cushions, has got nearly 2,000 books.

At the self-service library, readers can borrow and return books with a library card, and the card can also be used at Huai’an City Library and Huai’an Children's Library.

To date, there are 17 of such libraries in the city, including 15 in Qingjianpu District and two in Huai’an Economic & Technological Development Zone.

Some self-service libraries in the city have an area of over 80 square meters, where coffee machines and sofas are available.

There are more readers at the libraries after 8:00pm every evening, including children accompanied by their parents.
