Grand Bridge's Steel Tower Installed after Five Hours

The Huaihai Road Bridge on the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage site, reached an important milestone in the construction on the night of July 31. The bridge’s signature part, the white steel tower knowns as ‘Huaihe River Pearl,’ was successfully connected after more than five hours of ongoing operation.
The successful linking of the steel tower means that the highly anticipated bridge has completed 70 percent of the total construction, laying a foundation for the opening of the bridge before the end of June 2019.
