Intelligent Bookcase Serves 50,000 Students in Huai'an
A new generation of intelligent bookcase, independently researched and developed by Huaiyin Institute of Technology, has been put into use in four universities in Huai'an City, offering services to about 50,000 students.
The student team named "Pass the Books" in the institute has been very active in innovation and entrepreneurship in recent years among colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province. The team leader Ni Saihua, a junior in the School of Mechanical and Material Engineering, said the team has focused on the recycling and distribution of used textbooks and learning materials as a public welfare practice since 2015.
"The conflict between environmental protection and students' demand for textbooks has become increasingly prominent, and intelligent bookcase can effectively solve this problem," said Ni.
The intelligent bookcase can independently complete the recycling of teaching materials, increase their use for more times, and optimize the circulation. Since 2017, four colleges and universities recorded 190,000 times of book use through the smart bookcase, saving more than four million yuan (626,000 US dollars) of teaching materials expense.
