Air-Rail Intermodal Transport Shortens the Distance between Cities

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Huai'an actively seized the opportunities to construct high-speed railways. The opening of Xu-Su-Huai-Yan railway, Lian-Huai railway, Huai'an East Railway Station, and Lianshui Railway Station officially ushered Huai'an into the high-speed railway era. Now Huai'an citizens can go directly to more than 60 large and medium-sized cities in 16 provinces, including Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, and Hangzhou, and the travel time is shortened to a large extent. By the end of 2020, the railway mileage in Huai'an reached 263.9 kilometers, including 163.4 kilometers of high-speed railways, which is 1.6 times that of the 12th Five Year Plan. The high-speed railway hub has taken shape.

Huai'an airport also develops rapidly. Since it was approved as a class I port in 2015, Huai'an airport has opened the airlines to Yinchuan, Shantou, Wuhan, Chongqing, etc. It also opened three full cargo routes to Zhengzhou, Shenzhen, and Fuzhou in 2020. Now, Huai'an airport has 25 airlines to 26 cities, and a convenient passenger transport network has been formed. The passenger throughput successfully exceeded one million in 2017. The growth rate of passenger throughput ranked first among nine major airports in Jiangsu in 2019.
