Sixty out of Seventy Old Residential Districts Renewed this Year in Huai'an

Since the beginning of this year, the municipal government of Huai'an has made great efforts to improve people's living conditions, focusing mainly on the transformation of shantytowns (dilapidated houses and apartments). The first three quarters witness the reconstruction of 24167 shanties, with 8265 of them completed. The rebuilding of seventy old residential districts, one of the "Ten Projects for the People", is underway, and sixty of them have been completed. A total of 278 "Renewing Projects" of the old residential districts within the range of 500 meters around a farm product market have been completed.

The government of Huai'an will concentrate on the following work in the fourth quarter. First, it will continue to improve the urban housing security system, analyze the provincial examination index of shantytowns transformation coverage, and apply the responsibility management system accordingly. Second, it will guarantee the housing security of the urban disadvantaged people by providing physical rental and rental subsidies. Third, it will make a shared housing ownership policy, which specifies common owners, application procedures, and buy-back conditions. Fourth, it will revise the regulations concerned, such as "Guidance on Installing Elevators in Existing Residential Buildings in Huai'an" and "Management Measures for Special Housing Maintenance Funds Huai'an".
