On the afternoon of July 28, the inspection department of Huai'an Customs issued the inspection and quarantine certificate for a batch of pet food exported by Huaxing Industrial Co., Ltd. in Jinhu County after documents verification and commodity inspection. A total of 404 cases of pet food worth 36000 US dollars will be reshipped to Turkey after being loaded at Nanjing port that afternoon.

The pet food was shipped to Turkey in mid-January this year and arrived at the destination after the Spring Festival. However, the shipment had to be temporarily stored in the port due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The inspection department of Huai'an Customs recommended Huaxing to reship the commodity back to China so that the storage cost could be reduced when the department was informed of their difficulties. At the same time, Huai'an Customs arranged special persons to handle this matter. The inspection department suggested a storage and quality control plan for this batch of goods and actively collected new foreign trade information to reduce the losses.

To guarantee the "six stabilities" and "six tasks", Huai'an Customs tried every means to stabilize the export of pet food. It reformed the inspection mode of pet food for export by incorporating "30 operation reforms", comprehensive risk analysis, enterprise classification, product characteristics, field inspection and video inspection. It simplified the inspection and quarantine certificate issuing process so that nearly half of the certificate issuing time is cut. It also arranged liaison officers, who timely informed and interpreted export prohibition measures of pet food, issued relevant documents, and tracked the whole export process so as to increase the frequency of shipment to Europe and the United States. At present, the enterprises in Huai'an have exported 2275.9 tons of pet food with a value of 11.877 million US dollars, up 37.91% and 53.83% respectively over the same period of last year.
