On May 26, according to the approval of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), Huai'an Airport was officially renamed as "Huaian Lianshui International Airport”.
The name change is to further accelerate Huai'an airport development and air cargo hub construction as well as fully integrate the city into the strategies of "the Belt and Road Initiative", "Yangtze River Delta Economic Integration" and "Huaihe Ecological Economic Belt". In accordance with the Regulations on Geographical Names and Regulations on the Licensing of Civil Airports, Huai'an Civil Airport Co., Ltd. first actively applied to the Huai'an municipal government for the renaming approval. After that, it formally applied to CAAC and obtained the Reply from the General Department of CAAC on the Renaming of Huai'an Lianshui Airport as a result. The approval of the airport's name change is of great significance to the airport itself with the increased influence and popularity as well as the whole city with better economic and social development and opening up.
