At 4 pm September 7, a tower climber climbed a communication tower at phase II wharf of New Port and posted  "5G" logo on the installed 5G communication equipment which is the first 5G base station built at Huai'an Port, and China's first 5G base station in inland port. Based on 5G communication network, Huai'an Port will carry out a number of intelligent port application tests such as unstaffed equipment and intelligent operation.

Compared with other counterparts, only Qingdao Port and Shanghai Port boast 5G intelligent application, while Huai'an Port is the first inland port launching 5G application. Huai'an Port Logistics Group has reached a strategic cooperation with China Mobile Huai'an Branch. It plans to build eight 5G base stations in port area by the end of 2021, to achieve seamless signal coverage throughout Phase I, II and III of Huai'an New Port.
