Hongze Lake Finds 95 Stone Carving Sties
time:2019-07-10

According to the Department of Culture, Radio, TV and Tourism in Hongze District of Huai'an City, another 95 sites with stone carvings were found at the ancient embankment of the Hongze Lake, bringing the total number of such relics to 220.

The lingering drought has led to the dropping water level in the lake, exposing stone carvings previously submerged by water. The district's cultural workers have organized a survey in the dry season, collected data, took photos of newly discovered relics, and also made rubbings of some carved surface.

The new findings ranged from historical records about construction to auspicious patterns, showing the rich content carved on the stones in the embankment.
