In recent years, Huai'an City has made strides in strengthening cooperation with sister cities in fields of economy, trade, science and technology, culture, education, and tourism.
The city's circle of friends has kept expanding. Since the establishment of the first sister-city relationship with Vénissieux in France in 1988, Huai'an now has increased the relationship to 14 cities in 11 countries and also built friendly-exchange ties with 23 cities in 21 countries.
Exchanges are increasingly held at higher levels. Huai'an has hosted two conferences with sister cities and received more than 80 important delegations from places including Wanju County in South Korea and Magnitogorsk in Russia. The city's leaders also actively promote Huai'an when they visit foreign countries.
Economic and trade cooperation is deepening too. After years of exchanges, Huai'an has established investment and trade ties with counterparts in Russia, South Korea, France, Germany, Canada, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom. These countries invested 1.52 billion US dollars in 83 companies in Huai'an, involving manufacturing, wholesale and retail and production services.
Friendly exchange is constantly growing. Huai'an has boosted cooperation with sister cities in economy, trade, tourism and culture, turning the exchange to be all-round, multi-level and extensive.
