In the first quarter, Huai'an added 21,000 mu (1,400 hectares) of land for high-efficiency agriculture, Jiangsu media reported on May 29.
The city's planting area of vegetables reached 452,000 mu, an increase of 4,000 mu year-on-year. The estimated output will be 1.22 million tons, up 15,000 tons.
Through measures in investment attraction, construction, and governmental services, Huai'an has boosted the support to the development of high-efficiency agriculture, with a focus on plantation, green and aquatic products, ecological tourism and agricultural industries with high added values.
Huai'an introduced 130 agricultural investment projects in the first quarter, each with an investment of more than 30 million yuan. Among them, 88 projects are about agricultural products processing and agritourism. There are 46 projects each with an investment of over 100 million yuan. The total investment reached 20 billion yuan.
