With the last pouring of concrete, China Railway Construction Engineering Group sealed successfully the main structure of the Huai'an High-speed Railway East Station on the morning of May 26, laying a solid foundation for completing the construction of the station by the end of this year.
The railway station will have six platforms and 17 railway tracks in total in the future, to serve the Lianyungang-Huai'an-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang and Nanjing-Huai'an railway lines. It will become a transportation hub composed of long-distance bus terminal, an urban rapid bus station, rail transit, taxi area and public parking space.
Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai'an-Yancheng railway line will be fully open and Lianyungang-Huai'an-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang will be partially open by the end of 2019, when a railway network that takes the shape of Chinese character mi, with six strokes in all directions, will come into existence. The city of Huai'an will also enter into the high-speed rail era.
