Huai'an will make solid efforts in 2019 to complete key tasks, such as water resources management, conservation of water sources and water ecological development.
The city's main measures are in different perspectives. It will keep a strict control of the total amount of water consumption, limiting it to below 3.326 billion cubic meters, through rigorous management over water resources and groundwater exploitation. The city will also increase efforts to protect the source of drinking water, focusing on the long-term management and conservation. Huai'an plans to build water ecological projects, increase the dredging in urban and rural rivers, improve ecological roles of rivers, make a progress in keeping the water clean in Li Canal, part of the Grand Canal, as well as the ancient Huaihe River, and implement a long-term management mechanism. Meanwhile, the city will promote the river and lake-chief system, continue the river patrols, and improve the quality of the city's water environment.
