In recent years, the port economy of Huai'an has been growing steadily. Relying on the logistics channel of Subei Canal, Huai'an New Port has become an important hub port. In 2018, the city completed port cargo throughput of 87.69 million tons, ranking the first in the province's inland waterway ports.
