Huai'an City handled 87.69 million tons of cargo through its river ports in 2018, highest growth in Jiangsu Province. The number of standard containers increased 17 percent year on year to 202,000, accounting for 60 percent of the province's total.
Since last year, Huai'an has actively assisted enterprises to apply for subsidies of more than 7 million yuan, built 6 new standard container ships, opened 4 new trade routes to Shanghai, Lianyungang and Suqian, and completed 74 voyages to Shanghai in the whole year.
Huai'an has attached great importance to port planning and construction. Last year, it finished a total infrastructure investment of 129 million yuan, making steady progress in a series of port construction projects.
