Huai'an Invests a Record 13.4b Yuan on Transportation

The investment of Huai'an on transportation hit a record high of 13.4 billion yuan this year, exceeding its annual investment plan of 12 billion yuan, Jiangsu media reported on December 26.
Among the achievement, the newly built Huaihai South Road Bridge begins to take shape. The single-tower cable-stayed bridge with two-way six-lane road is 38 meters wide and 663.76 meters long. With an estimated investment of 320 million yuan, the bridge has obtained an accumulative investment of 246 million yuan and completed its foundation construction.
Huai'an has also built or renovated 567 kilometers of roads in rural areas and completed an investment of 750 million yuan, exceeding its annual target. The coverage of the two-lane Class IV highway in administrative villages jumped over 95 percent, up from the previous 57 percent.
Cargo throughput of Huai'an Port is expected to reach 87 million tons this year, ranking first among the province's inland river ports. The annual container throughput is expected to grow 14 percent year on year to 200,000 TEUs, accounting for about 60 percent of the total at the province's inland river ports.
In 2018, Huai'an Airport handled 1.5 million passengers and 6,000 tons of cargo and mail, up 17 percent and 20 percent respectively. Flights from the airports connect 30 cities with new routes to Cambodia and Thailand opened too. The airport also finished renovation and expansion of its terminal, with the airspace class upgrade from 4C to 4D by the CAAC East China Regional Administration. The airport has extended its runway from 2,400 meters to 2,800 meters, and added another 11 aircraft stands, and is able to handle the take-off and landing of A321 and B737-800 aircraft.
The progress of the Huai'an section of Lianyungang-Huai'an-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang Railway and Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai'an-Yancheng Railway is ahead of other sections along the routes. The Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai'an-Yancheng Railway completed track laying this month. The Huai'an section of the railways has completed 4.15 billion yuan of investment by far, 118.6 percent of the annual plan.
In addition, the Huai'an Railway East Station for high-speed trains officially commenced construction on December 7.
Furthermore, Huai'an put 400 new energy buses into use this year, and will make buses accessible to all towns and villages two years ahead of schedule.
