Sister Cities in Germany and Hungary Send Delegates to Huai'an

Government delegations of Sassnitz, Germany, and Bátonyterenye, Hungary, came to Huai'an on Oct. 23 for a three-day visit. On the afternoon, Yao Xiaodong, Secretary of Huai'an Municipal Party Committee, met with Frank Kracht, Mayor of Sassnitz, and Jozsef Nagy-Majdon, Mayor of Bátonyterenye.
Yao Xiaodong extended his welcome to the guests coming from afar and introduced the basic situation of Huai'an. Yao said that since the establishment of the sister city relationship between Sassnitz and Huai'an, the two sides had cooperated in the fields of youth exchange visits, ship maintenance and manufacturing, and vocational school exchanges, especially the youth exchanges had become a brand project for exchanges between the two sides. In 2016, Bátonyterenye and Huai'an officially signed a friendly exchange agreement, and the friendly exchanges between the two cities are developing healthily and rapidly. This visit by Mr. Kracht and Mr. Nagy-Majdon, with their respective delegations, will certainly open a new chapter in the friendly relations between Huai'an and the two cities.
Yao hoped that the two sides would further enhance mutual understanding, deepen friendship and promote common development and prosperity through the visit of the two delegations. He said Huai'an would fully implement the "Belt and Road" Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, further improve the exchange and interaction mechanism, actively explore more fields of cooperation, and he sincerely hoped that the guests would walk around and see more places in Huai'an to enjoy the charm of the historic city.

On the day of arriving in Huai'an, the delegations visited the City Planning Hall, Huai'an Library, Grand theater and the Government Affairs Service Center. In the following days, the delegations will visit the former residence of Zhou Enlai, Huai'an Yamen, Baima Lake Eco-tourism Resort, and the Li Canal Cultural Corridor.
