Foreign Trade of Huai'an Reaches 24.35 Billion Yuan in 3 Quarters

Foreign trade of Huai'an increased by 10.6 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters to reach 24.35 billion yuan (3.51 billion US dollars), higher than the national and provincial growth rate. The export reached 16.06 billion yuan, up 5.3 percent, and the import rose by 22.6 percent to hit 8.29 billion yuan.
In terms of trading partners, the import and export to the U.S., EU and ASEAN reached 5.04 billion yuan, 4.17 billion yuan and 3.1 billion yuan, up 23.2 percent, 3.1 percent and 3.4 percent respectively. The amount accounted for 50.5 percent of the total import and export of Huai'an. In addition, the foreign trade to Japan rose by 68.8 percent to reach 1.77 billion yuan.
From the perspective of the nature of enterprises, the production-oriented enterprises achieved a foreign trade of 21.54 billion yuan in the first three quarters, an increase of 13 percent. This accounted for 88.5 percent of the city's total, 2.4 percentage points higher than the same period in last year.
In addition, the city's Taiwan-funded enterprises achieved an import and export of 8.29 billion yuan, a growth of 13.8 percent.
The mechanical and electrical products, textiles and garments led the foreign trade of Huai'an. In the first three quarters, Huai'an exported mechanical and electrical products worth of 5.57 billion yuan, an increase of 11.1 percent, accounting for 34.7 percent of the city's total export.
The products included 1.04 billion yuan of battery, an increase of 3.4 percent, and 650 million yuan of auto parts, an increase of 11.6 percent.
In addition, export of textiles, clothing and apparel reached 3.87 billion yuan. Huai'an imported mechanical and electrical products valued at 5.57 billion yuan, an increase of 26.5 percent, and 470 million yuan of cotton, up 8.7 percent.
Huai'an Customs greatly reduced the time of customs clearance and improved efficiency dramatically. In early October, the city's overall import customs clearance time was reduced by 51.3 percent, and the export customs clearance time was cut by 60.3 percent.
