Huaiyin Institute of Technology Renamed Huai'an University

The Jiangsu Provincial People's Government recently issued a notice regarding the renaming of Huaiyin Institute of Technology to Huai'an University.

According to the notice, following a review and with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Huaiyin Institute of Technology has been officially renamed Huai'an University, and the original institutional structure of Huaiyin Institute of Technology has been abolished. Huai'an University is a provincial public regular undergraduate institution, primarily focused on undergraduate education while also offering postgraduate programs.

Huaiyin Institute of Technology, a provincial undergraduate institution in Jiangsu located in Huai'an City, is currently a master's degree conferring unit, a construction unit for first-class applied undergraduate universities in Jiangsu Province, and a doctoral degree awarding construction unit. It has three campuses — Meicheng Road Campus, Beijing Road Campus, and Xiaohu Campus — covering 2,183.9 mu (about 1.46 million square meters), with more than 730,000 square meters of building floor space. The university comprises 19 schools/departments and centers and offers 74 undergraduate majors and 14 professional master’s programs. It has over 24,000 full-time students, including more than 1,600 master's students, and employs over 2,000 faculty and staff, of whom more than 1,400 are full-time teaching faculty.

In December 2024, the Jiangsu Education Department issued a public announcement regarding the proposed renaming of Huaiyin Institute of Technology to Huai'an University, in accordance with the regulations and requirements for the establishment of higher education institutions. In January of this year, the Ministry of Education issued the Public Notice on the Proposed Approval for the Establishment of Undergraduate Higher Education Institutions, which included the proposed approval of Huaiyin Institute of Technology as Huai'an University.
