First, through overall planning, Huai'an is making adequate preparations for the flood season. Ahead of the flood season, the city has organized extensive inspections to identify potential geological disaster risks and vulnerabilities, establishing a clear baseline of hazards; it has prepared and issued the annual geological disaster prevention and control plan, forecast the annual prevention and control situation, and specified the annual prevention and control tasks; it has arranged duty rosters for geological disaster prevention and control during the flood season, requiring that all on-duty personnel maintain 24-hour communication availability to ensure prompt response to any emergencies that may arise.

Second, with targeted efforts, Huai'an is effectively carrying out geologic disaster prevention and control for the flood season. The city prioritizes the assessment and early warning of geological disaster risks and has issued the first and second geological disaster warning notifications for 2025 to prompt necessary preventive actions. It has also strengthened on-duty forces, with experts deployed to front-line areas such as Xuyi and Hongze during periods of heavy rainfall to provide proactive command. Additionally, the city has established a solid inspection system. In 2025, it has organized five rounds of expert inspections to date, alongside over 300 staff inspections.

Thirdly, concerned about public safety, Huai'an has taken effective measures to prevent post-earthquake secondary disasters. On August 14, a 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck Xuyi County. In response, Huai'an promptly mobilized experts to the affected area to conduct comprehensive inspections of all potential geological disaster sites within the city. This swift action ensured the timely identification and mitigation of any secondary geological disasters resulting from the earthquake, thereby safeguarding the lives and property of the community.
