According to the unified accounting results of regional GDP, Huai'an achieved a regional GDP of RMB 275.901 billion in the first half of the year, representing a year-on-year increase of 6.8% at constant prices. Specifically, the added value of the primary industry reached RMB 13.423 billion, up 5.4%; the secondary industry contributed RMB 110.2 billion, up 6.0%; and the tertiary industry totaled RMB 152.278 billion, up 7.6%.
In the first half of the year, the city's value added of industrial enterprises above the designated size, total invoiced industrial sales, and industrial electricity consumption increased by 8.9%, 8.8%, and 7.5% year-on-year, respectively. By industry category, 30 out of the 34 major industrial sectors recorded year-on-year growth in value added, with a growth coverage rate of 88.2%. The computer, communications, and other electronic equipment manufacturing sector grew by 22.6%, while the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing sector expanded by 13.3%, both providing strong momentum for the overall growth of industrial enterprises above the designated size in the city.
In the first half of the year, fixed asset investment across the city grew by 5.3% year-on-year, with industrial investment up by 17.2%. The city signed 576 new industrial projects each worth over RMB 100 million, with a total contracted investment of RMB 274.05 billion. Among them, 485 were newly introduced industrial projects worth over RMB 100 million, marking an increase of 14 compared to the same period last year; and 92 were projects worth over RMB 1 billion, up by 7 year-on-year. Additionally, 287 major projects worth over RMB 100 million broke ground and 212 were completed, representing year-on-year increases of 7 and 11, respectively.
In the first half of the year, the added value of the service sector in the city increased by 7.6% year-on-year. The added value of wholesale and retail grew by 12.1%, accommodation and catering by 9.0%, and other service industries by 9.9%. According to preliminary estimates, Huai'an received 26.405 million domestic and international tourist visits, up 13.2%, generating a total tourism revenue of RMB 29.42 billion, marking an increase of 12.8%. The city handled 1.551 million tons of rail freight, up 47.5%; port cargo throughput reached 41.106 million tons, up 6.5%; and container throughput totaled 298,500 TEUs, up 11.4%.
