Huai'an Builds a Strong Firewall for Wildlife Protection
time:2025-04-11

In order to effectively safeguard ecological security and public health safety, the Huai'an Municipal Administration for Market Regulation has comprehensively launched the "Qingfeng Action 2025" since February 1, 2025 to crack down on illegal wildlife trade.

The city has consistently fostered a multidimensional atmosphere for wildlife protection. A special campaign titled "Law Popularization in Markets" has been launched, during which law enforcement officers visited all 84 urban farmers' markets across the city. Through case explanations and legal interpretations, they promoted awareness of the Wild Animal Conservation Law of the People's Republic of China and other relevant laws and regulations among market practitioners. To innovate publicity methods, the city collaborated with the media to release public service advertisements and posted promotional posters inside markets to enhance awareness. The "12315" hotline for reporting violations has been kept open to encourage public participation in supervision efforts, further reinforcing the protective barrier for wildlife conservation.

The city has implemented a regular and long-term regulatory "measure combination" to ensure effective supervision. Online, it closely monitors activities through the provincial online transaction regulatory platform, using keyword cloud searches and manual reviews. A total of 5 self-operated websites, 426 flagged product entries, 3 WeChat official accounts, 3 Weibo accounts, and 3 live-streaming product entries were monitored. Offline, over 100 law enforcement personnel were dispatched to conduct thorough inspections of farmers' markets and flower-and-bird markets, focusing on purchase records and business licenses, while strictly investigating illegal trade and the consumption of wild animals. In advertising, targeted measures were applied citywide, with 1,541 accounts monitored and 3,350 advertisements reviewed. Four leads were identified related to suspected illegal wildlife sales and false or illegal advertisements. As of now, no major illegal wildlife trade cases have been discovered in the city, and market order continues to show stable improvement.
