Huai'an City Introduces Innovative Solutions to Alleviate Parking Difficulties
time:2025-01-21

Parking challenges have long been a pressing concern for residents, testing the wisdom and capability of urban governance. The Huai'an Municipal Government has prioritized "the addition of public parking spaces" as a key project for improving people's livelihoods for several consecutive years. The city has actively explored innovative methods, such as establishing new multi-story parking facilities and creating smart parking spaces, to develop a parking management approach suitable for Huai'an.

It has made the most of its parking resources to optimize the use of parking spaces and alleviate supply-demand conflicts. In 2024, the city added a total of 7,492 parking spaces of various types. This included the creation of 2,827 public parking spaces on urban corner lots and vacant land from demolitions. Additionally, 2,235 parking spaces were newly built or renovated in conjunction with the renovation of older residential communities to increase parking capacity. To address the parking difficulties in densely populated areas such as hospitals, schools, and key commercial districts, it scientifically designated 2,430 road parking spaces. Furthermore, the city has actively promoted time-sharing and open access to internal parking spaces in government and public institutions, adding 546 shared parking spaces.

Huai'an has leveraged technologies such as big data and the Internet of Things to integrate information from various parking facilities across the city, constructing a smart urban parking system. A unified parking information platform has been developed and is linked to applications such as "iHuai'an" and "Jiangsu Service Office". Currently, 246 of the 317 commercial parking lots in the city have completed data integration and interaction, allowing for high-frequency capture of real-time parking lot data. Through applications like "iHuai'an", users can access real-time information on parking lot locations, pricing standards, and the number of available spaces.
