With less than two weeks until the Lunar New Year, the festive atmosphere is increasingly palpable in the streets and alleys of Huai'an. Recently, various cultural activities have been organized across the city, offering rich and diverse experiences for residents to enjoy a culturally vibrant Spring Festival.
The "Joyful New Year Celebration, Exciting Huai'an Welcomes the Spring" 2025 Huai'an Caoyun Gate New Year Market was held with great enthusiasm at the Caoyun Gate Square in Qingjiangpu District. In addition to showcasing a wide array of goods, including food, gifts, beverages, clothing, and household items, the market featured an intangible cultural heritage experience area, covering projects such as sugar painting, paper-cutting, flower and bird characters, and paper flip flowers. Furthermore, cultural performances included dragon and lion dances, opera shows, and flower boat displays, allowing residents to directly experience the colorful traditions of the New Year.
On January 2, the 2025 "Warm Homecoming Journey: A Good Book to Bring Home for the New Year" public reading initiative called for donations from residents. The campaign encourages everyone to give away unused books from their homes and to write messages on the title pages. All collected books will be used for public welfare activities. Every year during the Spring Festival travel season, Huai'an City organizes events at factories, train stations, and other venues to gift books and blessings to returning workers and residents.
Recently, the Huai'an Art Museum launched the "Public Welfare in Huai'an | Huai'an Art Museum 'Welcoming the Spring: Sending Couplets and Blessings' event" on its official WeChat account. Three renowned calligraphers, Li Dehui, Xu Weiling, and Li Shouwei, created beautiful "Fu" characters and couplets to celebrate the New Year. Residents can visit the museum's first-floor hall after January 18 to receive these items for free.
