In 2024, Huai'an plans to build or reconstruct 320 kilometers of rural roads and 17 bridges and implement 298 kilometers of safety and life protection projects, with a total planned investment of RMB 1.067 billion.

By the end of September, a total of RMB 1.019 billion had been invested in rural road construction in Huai'an City, accounting for 95.5%. 320 kilometers of roads were commenced and 265 kilometers were completed, with a start rate and a completion rate of 100% and 82.8% respectively; 17 bridges were all completed; 298 kilometers of safety and life protection projects were commenced and 279 kilometers were completed, with a start rate and a completion rate of 100% and 93.6% respectively. The annual construction goals and tasks are expected to be fully completed by the end of November.

During the project construction process, the Municipal Highway Center attached great importance to engineering quality and safety. In late September, it organized a comprehensive inspection on the quality and safety of rural roads in the city, focusing on testing and evaluating road thickness, width and compactness, bridge structure strength, reinforcement cover thickness, corrugated beam plate base metal thickness, coating thickness, column thickness, marking line thickness, retroreflection coefficient and raw materials, as well as inspecting the safety management of the construction site, to ensure that the project construction meets the specification requirements. The inspection results show that the overall quality of rural road construction projects in the city is under good control.

In the next step, the Municipal Highway Center will urge counties and districts to continuously speed up the progress of rural road construction, follow up the key and difficult problems in project implementation in real time, optimize the quality and safety management of rural road construction, continue to promote rural road maintenance and improve the safety level of rural roads.
