2024 Grand Canal City Intangible Cultural Heritage Tourism Festival Opens in Huai'an

On the evening of September 14, the 2024 Grand Canal City Intangible Cultural Heritage Tourism Festival kicked off in the 1415 Block of Qingjiangpu District in Huai'an City.

This Cultural Tourism Festival highlights the positioning of Huai'an as a culturally strong city in "Huai'an with Profound Cultural Deposit" of "Splendid Huai'an on the Three-Thousand-Mile Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal" and its historical status as one of the "Cities along the Grand Canal", featuring "National Carnival" and "Cultural Tourism Consumption Season". The Festival held eight distinctive theme activities titled "Promoting Cultural Communication Along the Grand Canal, Rejuvenating Tradition with Craftsmanship", including the Grand Canal City Intangible Heritage Bazaar, to showcase intangible heritage projects with good inheritance effects along the Grand Canal and regional culture with unique charm to explore the new mode of introducing intangible cultural heritage into scenic spots and the new path of culture-tourism integration at a deeper level. The Festival will last till the end of October.

The "Top 10 Most Popular Intangible Cultural Heritage Projects" with the best sales and reputation were announced at the opening ceremony. The traditional production techniques of Beijing preserved fruit, Tianjin-style pancakes, and Qing Tribute meatballs are on the list.

After the opening ceremony, at the 2024 Huai'an Grand Canal Intangible Cultural Heritage Tourism Festival, wonderful intangible cultural heritage programs such as the situational performance Chen Xuan Dredged the Qingjiangpu Branch of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, intangible cultural heritage show Drums and Cymbals, Xinjiang dance Bloom and Northeast Errenzhuan Teasing Piggy were staged one after another, winning applause from the audience, injecting vitality to and renewing the cultural deposit of the canal in the autumn.
