time:2024-09-03

From August 31 to September 1, the first China Freediving Depth Open Championship was held in Xiangshan National Mine (Geological) Park, Xuyi County. 40 divers from all over the country signed up for it, including Wang Yuanyuan and other renowned free diving record holders in Asia.

The championship was sponsored by the Water Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the China Water Ski, Underwater & Powerboat Federation. It includes three events: Constant Weight Without Fins (CNF), Constant Weight With Fins (CWT), and Free Immersion (FIM). The first China Freediving Depth Open Championship was held in Xuyi County due to the three advantages of Xuyi. First, the premium water quality. To ensure the safety of competitors, the diving depth of this competition was limited to 40 meters. The maximum depth of Xiangshan Pit is 51 meters, and the water is as clear as sapphire and included in the Class I water quality area. With a visibility of more than 15 meters, Xuyi is an ideal place to hold the Freediving Depth Open Championship. Secondly, sound supporting facilities. As an extreme sport, free diving has strict requirements for supporting facilities. Located in the urban area of Xuyi, Xiangshan National Mine (Geological) Park is China's first open water diving and water sports base combining natural landscape with professional facilities. Therefore, it can provide all-around protection for athletes. Finally, it is well-known. Xuyi is reputed for its abundant crayfish resources, coupled with the participation of famous athletes such as Wang Yuanyuan, which promoted the development and popularization of freediving and jointly open up a new blue ocean for sports competition.

Xuyi County will take this event as an opportunity to build Xiangshan Water Sports Center with diving as the core event, and integrate surrounding cultural tourism resources to build a water sports town integrating cultural, sports, and tourism industries.
