This year, Huai'an City implemented the provincial and municipal project for people's well-being, a barrier-free house renovation project for disadvantaged persons with disabilities to make their lives more convenient. As a result, people with disabilities can travel without barriers. By the end of July, Huai'an had completed barrier-free renovations for 204 families of persons with disabilities.

Since the beginning of this year, Huai'an Disabled Persons' Federation has attached great importance to barrier-free house renovation for persons with disabilities and issued the Huai'an Disabled Persons' Federation 2024 Implementation Plan for Barrier-free House Renovation for Disadvantaged Persons with Severe Disabilities, requiring counties and districts to select qualified, experienced and competent service agencies to undertake the house renovation task through bidding. Meanwhile, we have adhered to the concept of "house renovation" with precise needs, personalized customization, and whole-process tracking, and required counties and districts to implement the List of Barrier-free House Renovation for Disadvantaged Persons with Severe Disabilities and the List of Barrier-free House Renovation for Disadvantaged Persons with Severe Disabilities in Huai'an City, and construct high-quality projects. In addition, the Huai'an Disabled Persons' Federation requires all counties and districts to send professionals to conduct household evaluation according to the actual situation of service objects and their physical functions, ability to participate in social activities, dependence on barrier-free facilities, and subjective willingness, to formulate an appropriate renovation plan for each family according to conditions of each family and realize "one plan for one household" to meet the personalized and diversified needs of people with disabilities for barrier-free rehabilitation. Eventually, the barrier-free house renovation project for disadvantaged people with disabilities has significantly improved their living environment. Therefore, the project has been warmly welcomed by people with disabilities and well-received from all walks of life, achieving significant social benefits.
