Starting from February 1, 2023, Huai'an has introduced a family mutual aid feature for employees' medical insurance personal accounts, allowing balance sharing among family members. Family members who incur expenses within the scope of individual account funds can benefit from family mutual aid arrangements through family mutual aid in individual accounts. This allows them to share personal medical expenses with their families. Huai'an has enabled family members within different areas of the province to share individual medical insurance accounts. This means that, even if the mutual aid provider and the mutual aid receiver are not in the same district but are both insured within the province, they can still utilize their accounts together. By the end of April this year, a total of 265,700 people in Huai'an have enrolled in the family mutual aid program under employee medical insurance.
Four conditions must be met for citizens to enjoy the family policy of employee medical insurance. First, the main account holder and family members can establish a family mutual aid relationship only when they are in normal insurance participation status. Second, the primary account holder and family members can only join one mutual aide relationship at a time. If changes are necessary, they can join a new mutual aide relationship after exiting the current one. Each family member can be linked to only one primary account holder, although a primary account holder can link multiple family members. Third, the account balance of the principal account holder can only flow out in one direction. Fourth, family members must hold their own medical insurance cards or electronic certificates of medical insurance for settlement.
