Huai'an Focuses on Building High-quality Green Space

With the acceleration of urbanization, the planning and construction of green space have emerged as a significant link to improve city quality and enhance citizens' happiness. In recent years, as a vanguard of urban construction, Huai'an Municipal Housing and Urban-rural Development Bureau has actively responded to the national call of ecological civilization construction and concentrated on creating high-quality green spaces, so that the city is rejuvenated with new vitality in the lush greenery.

The first is to continuously consolidate the ecological foundation with greenery increase as the main line. More than 400 landscaping projects such as Xiaohu Park and Ancient Huaihe River Scenic Belt have been implemented successively. The city boasts 45 urban parks and more than 60 small green zones in its built-up areas, making the layout of urban green spaces increasingly reasonable.

The second is to continuously beautify the city's landscape by pursuing high quality. Huai'an highlights the integration of green spaces and waters, connects ecological greenways with water networks and rivers and lakes, focuses on the construction of green corridors around Liyunhe Canal, Ancient Yellow River and other riversides as well as White Horse Lake and Hongze Lake. The 15.6-kilometer-long Liyunhe Canal Cultural Corridor in the urban area has been fully connected, with the ecological picture of "clear waters, beautiful scenery and city-water integration" taking a preliminary shape.

Third, with the purpose of benefiting people's livelihood, Huai'an fully shares green welfare. It pilots the opening and sharing of park green spaces to satisfy citizens' needs for recreation, fitness and green travel in an all-round way and vigorously promotes the practice of "park plus". Centering on "one park with one characteristic" and "one park with one style", it annually holds more than 60 park and floral events and the annual surge in visitation exceeds the 1 million mark.
