On October 18, BYD held a new product launch conference for its T5 hybrid light truck at its New Energy Commercial Vehicle Manufacturing Base in Huai'an Industrial Park. The T5 is BYD's first 4.5-ton urban logistics light truck equipped with DM technology. The company also unveiled its Huai'an Truck Smart Factory, which is a benchmark for the intelligent production of new energy commercial vehicles.

BYD signed an agreement to invest a total of 5 billion yuan in the BYD New Energy Commercial Vehicle and Parts Project in Huai'an Industrial Park on August 3, 2022. The local authorities and the industrial park took a proactive approach by establishing a "service team" dedicated to supporting the BYD project. They focused on optimizing processes, reducing unnecessary steps, shortening timelines, and providing top-quality service, which ultimately led to a fast and efficient implementation. Remarkably, within just 90 days from the contract signing to commencing construction, the project managed to combine the speed and efficiency of BYD with the effectiveness of the Huai'an Industrial Park. By July 30 2023, the project reached a significant milestone by achieving full automation of its production line, showcasing the rapid development and technological advancement in the field of new energy commercial vehicles.
