Since the beginning of 2022, Huai'an has promoted new technologies and models of aquaculture, trying to strike a balance between fishing banning in the Yangtze River and aquatic products production.

First, we try to ensure supply by providing service guidance to aquaculture enterprises and implementing disaster prevention and mitigation measures in severe convective weather. The stocking area reached 590000 mu in the first four months this year, a year-on-year increase of 5.06%. The output of aquatic products was 100300 tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.36%. However, the prices fell to some extent due to the influence of COVID-19.

Second, we continue to enhance fish seed production. We guide fish breeding enterprises to carry out production in an orderly manner. At present, 590000 mu of fish, crab and shrimp aquaculture and 1.12 million mu of rice and shrimp fields in the city have been stocked. The breeding of large freshwater fish has started. Large fish species take up 40% in the open-air ponds.

Third, we continue to promote the new breeding models. We strengthen the cultivation of large lobsters and improve the efficiency of crayfish breeding. We are going to promote 100000-mu crayfish using the new "breeding and stocking separation" model. At present, the publicity and training are underway. In addition, we explore a new ecological three-dimensional planting and breeding model of aquatic vegetables, fish, and shrimp, and create a new system of water purification and three-dimensional circulation.
