Recently, Huai'an Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources organized an online and offline review of "Huai'an Action Plan—A Beautiful Central Axis in Jiangsu". The action plan focuses on the development theme of "a beautiful central axis in Jiangsu", meets the requirements for the protection, inheritance, and utilization of the Grand Canal culture, and is in line with the development strategy of "beautiful Jiangsu". The experts held that the plan was designed in an ambitious, systematic, reasonable way and was of originality and feasibility. Thus, the experts agreed that the plan passed the review.

The experts also put forward some suggestions. First, the commission should lay more emphasis on the significance and contribution of the plan to the construction of Huai'an into a beautiful central axis in Jiangsu, especially on the leading role played by Huai'an in Grand Canal cultural belt construction, urban rejuvenation, and space quality improvement. Second, the plan should highlight the coherence to other plans concerned such as the overall planning of land and space of Huai'an and the protection planning of a famous historical and cultural city. Third, the planning unit should improve the feasibility of the action plan by deepening the cooperation with relative departments and units at the municipal and district level and promoting key projects.
