In the first half of this year, Huai'an electricity consumption exceeded 11.1 billion kWh, an increase of 29.92% year-on-year, ranking first in the province in terms of its growth rate.

To be specific, the primary, secondary and tertiary industries in the city consumed 152 million kWh, 7.143 billion kWh and 1.903 billion kWh of electricity, respectively. Their consumption was up 20.29%, 39.66% and 28.39% year-on-year separately. As for the city's residential electricity, there was 1.977 billion kWh used, an increase of 5.27%. The rapid growth in electricity consumption of the whole society was due to the low base brought by the 2020 epidemic, and the production has been fully resumed in 2021. On the top of that, some of the new investment projects were officially put into operation, pulling up the overall consumption. In particular, the strong growth momentum of the industrial economy as well as the rebound in the growth rate of investment and consumption were the main reasons for the upward changes.
