In the first quarter of this year, Huai'an "made a good start" for its electricity consumption, with social electricity consumption reaching 5.513 billion kilowatt hours, up 33.83% year-on-year; industrial electricity consumption accumulated 3.092 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 47.24% year-on-year.

The main reasons for the growth of Huai'an electricity consumption in the first quarter are as follows. The rapid rebound of the manufacturing industry has driven a significant increase. Industries in chemical raw materials and products manufacturing, transport equipment manufacturing and another two fields all achieved a year-on-year growth rate of more than 100%. In addition, thanks to the opening of Lianyungang-Zhenjiang High-speed Railway and Xuzhou-Yancheng High-speed Railway, the city's railway transportation has seen rapid growth in electricity consumption, with a cumulative 23.78 million kilowatt hours in the first quarter, an increase of 149.27% compared to the last year. Also, the consumer market rebounded rapidly with residents' purchasing power recovered significantly. The electricity consumption in sectors such as wholesale and retail, accommodation and catering, information transmission, software and information technology services all rose by more than 30%.
