Huai'an Third People's Hospital (Jiangsu Provincial Psychiatric Regional Medical Center and Huai'an Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University) was founded in 1970 with one-third of the staff and equipment of Nanjing Neuropsychiatric Prevention and Treatment Hospital (now Nanjing Brain Hospital). It is a national Grade A tertiary specialized hospital featuring four key specialties: psychiatry, psychology, neurology, and sleep medicine. Currently, the hospital has an authorized bed capacity of 840 and operates 1,350 beds in practice. It sees an average of more than 800 outpatient visits per day and admits nearly 15,000 inpatients annually. Approximately 50% of patients come from outside the city. The hospital serves a population of over 20 million in Huai'an and the surrounding areas.
