Starting from 1 January 2006, consumers can check information about receipts online (except receipts with an enterprise's title and receipts issued directly by taxation authorities).

Consumers can log on to www.csj.sh.gov.cn and click the "Credit Checking Service Area" to check information about receipts. By typing in the receipt code, receipt number and enterprise tax registration number, you will be able to see "Success" and information about when and where the enterprise purchased the receipts from the taxation authorities or "Error, this receipt is not purchased by this enterprise".

To enhance the capability of checking receipts, there is also an anti-counterfeit sign printed on the receipt with ink that changes color according to temperature. The color of the sign will change if you press your finger on it.
