News Conference for the 10th Huai'an Games

On the afternoon of June 20, the news conference for the 10th Huai'an Games was held. As the largest, most competitive, most socially anticipated, and most influential sports event in Huai'an, the Games are held every four years, with this year marking the 10th time.

This year's Games are hosted by the municipal government and organized by the Municipal Committee, the Municipal Education Bureau, the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, the Municipal Sports Bureau, and the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions. The opening and closing ceremonies will take place in mid-June and mid-November, respectively. This year's Games aim to thoroughly implement President Xi Jinping’s important discourse on sports, focusing on promoting sports and enhancing public fitness. Through a variety of sporting events, the Games will showcase Huai'an's achievements in integrating culture, sports, tourism, and economic and social development, and galvanize the city's populace to "take the lead, strive for excellence, and make significant contributions."

The Games emphasize universal participation, shared enjoyment, and public health. Focusing on grassroots and mass involvement, the Games are divided into five sections: government agencies, youth, farmers, employees, and seniors, featuring 40 popular sports events, an increase of 14 from the previous Games. To date, 12 events have been completed, including basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, athletics, and recreational gymnastics for the youth section; dragon boat races for government agencies and employees; and fitness qigong for the seniors, with nearly 10,000 participants citywide.

At the news conference, the theme, slogan, emblem, and mascot of the 10th Huai'an Games were unveiled, along with details of the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony will be held at 9:30 AM on June 23 at the City Sports Center Gymnasium. The overall theme of the ceremony is “Remembering the Mission, Living a Happy Life,” with a style that is innovative, beautiful, and grand, and programs that emphasize sunshine, rhythm, and health. The ceremony will last about 60 minutes and will be divided into two main parts: the ceremonial section and the cultural and sports performance section. The cultural and sports performance, themed “Joyful Huai'an,” will include three chapters: "Ancient and Modern Huai'an," "Healthy Huai'an," and "Striving for Excellence." Performances will feature local cultural elements such as the Hongze fish drum, Jinhu yangko dance, and demonstrations of basketball, jump rope, cheerleading, square dancing, Baduanjin, cycling, roller skating, fencing, volleyball, gymnastics, judo, handball, and rugby. Huai'an-born world champion Cui Wenhua will also make an appearance at the opening ceremony.

Currently, the organization and preparation for the 10th Huai'an Games are proceeding smoothly. Huai'an is planning meticulously, advancing precisely, and providing detailed services to ensure the Games are a "safe, exciting, and frugal" high-level sports event. This event aims to promote the Chinese sports spirit, review the achievements of sports development in the city, ignite urban vitality with a passion for sports, and unite the spirit of progress through the power of sports. In these activities, participants will experience joy in movement, enjoy health through fitness, and pursue excellence in competition, collectively writing a new chapter in the development of Huai'an's sports endeavors.
