Horse lantern dance is a folk dance form of Huai’an, which is mainly popular in the northern bank of Hongze Lake. According to the legend, it originated in Han dynasty. The dance is mainly performed by walking and jumping in various formations, which are said to be related to ancient battle formations.
Horse lantern dance is mainly performed during sacrifices, Spring Festival and temple fairs.
